Joint Commission of the Federal and States governments (Bund-Länder Commission)

Dear Sir / Dear Madam,

“If we are united, there are few things we cannot achieve." These words once spoken by J. F. Kennedy describe a goal that may have motivated the participants of the 37th Conference of Justice Ministers to establish the joint Commission of the Federal and States governments (Bund-Länder Commission) for Data Processing back in 1969. The Commission's task is to bring together and to coordinate all needs and interests of the 16 German federal states and the central federal government when it comes to issues of how to employ modern communication and information technologies and to support the national Conference of Justice Ministers.

With this internet presentation we would like to provide an insight into the activities conducted by the Bund-Länder Commission. Among other things, here you will find the decisions and regulations that have been met by this body, you will learn what role the Commission is playing in the current law-making procedures as well as in what ways individual federal states employ information technologies. The information provided on this site is intended for both organizations and companies that are busy implementing the regulations and any interested citizen who would like to learn more about our work.
